LITHIUM

                    Lithium

Atomic number 3

Atomic symbol Li

  • Melting point: 356.9 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Boiling point:  2448 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Number of isotopes : 10; 2 stable

INFORMATION

Lithium was discovered from a mineral, while other common alkali metals were discovered from plant material.
A soft, silvery metal. It has the lowest density of all metals. It reacts vigorously with water.
The most important use of lithium is in rechargeable batteries for mobile phones, laptops, digital cameras and electric vehicles. Lithium is also used in some non-rechargeable batteries for things like heart pacemakers, toys and clocks.

Lithium metal is made into alloys with aluminium and magnesium, improving their strength and making them lighter. A magnesium-lithium alloy is used for armour plating. Aluminium-lithium alloys are used in aircraft, bicycle frames and high-speed trains.

Lithium oxide is used in special glasses and glass ceramics. Lithium chloride is one of the most hygroscopic materials known, and is used in air conditioning and industrial drying systems (as is lithium bromide). Lithium stearate is used as an all-purpose and high-temperature lubricant. Lithium carbonate is used in drugs to treat manic depression,

Separating mixtures

Hi, in this post I'm going to talk about the methods we have seen in the laboratory and the objects we used
- Filings Very small pieces of metal made when the metal is filed
-Funnel They are used to filter metals
-Beaker They are used for calculate the volume of liquids
-Pore A very small hole
-Boiling point The temperature in a substance melts
- Crystallization The process in which a liquid transform in crystals

Methods for Separating mixtures

-Magnetic separation
This method it only can be used when one of the components has magnetic properties and the others don't

-Decantation
We use for liquids with different densities that don't mix together

-Filtration
We use this method to separate a solid from a liquid that hasn't dissolved like sand and water

-Distillation
We use distillation to separate soluble liquids with very different boiling
points from each others

-Evaporation and Crystallization
We use this method to separate a solid dissolved in a liquid

-Cromatography
We use this to separate two components In a mixture according to how soluble they are in a particular solvent

ABILITIES

Hi,  in this post  I´m going to talk about people with special abilities.
- Alma Deutscher  is a girl who could play music when she was a child When she was two years old she could  play the piano and she started violin lessons at the age of three.
-Mr Fauja Singh at the age of 89 he start running marathons and he stopped at the age of 101 . When he was a chid a weakness in his leg  meant that he couldn´t walk properly
-When Akrit Jaswal was born, his mother knew he had unusual talents.By the age of five he could read and write fluently.  Akrit made his first operation at the age of seven and at the age of twelve he went to the university
-When Max Rojos was child , he spent one year at hospital after a serious accident . He wanted to go across the world and afortunaly he recovered  his dream . He cycled 24,000 km,from Venezuela, through Argentina to Brazil

Making atoms

Nucleus :
Protons : Are part of the nuclei of  atoms , and are positived charged
Neutrons : With protons , make up the nuclei of all atoms . They have no charge  and were discovered by James Chadwick

-Shell :
Electrons : Are negatively charged , are part of atoms , and were discovered by Joseph John Thomson
